Laid up at Kings Bromley Marina

At the end of the 2019 season, "Paws" laid up. No further entries until (probably) into February 2020. A very happy festive season to all our readers - hope you will join us again in the new year.

Tuesday 12th November ~ Travel north

Laid up the boat for the winter - water off, gas off, non-essential electrics off, heating set, loo emptied, rubbish out. Got away mid-morning, heading north for the house. Rather a soggy start, but it cleared later. Arrived home late afternoon, tired from the drive.

6th-11th November ~ Kings Bromley Marina

Mixed bag of weather for the remainder of the week - occasional sun, but with random showers. Generally pottered about, routine chores, and shopping. Attended the Remembrance Service at Alrewas (joint service at All Saints), parade to the town's memorial (given a superb display during the 'silence' by a Spitfire as he had a "dogfight" over the National Memorial Arboretum), retiring to the Alrewas Legion clubhouse for refreshments. Back at "Paws", topped up the fuel for the winter. Attended the children's service at Kings Bromley memorial on Monday - short but to the point. Took a trip to the Arboretum in the afternoon, then returned to get the packing done for tomorrow. Weather kind for all the remembrance parades - no rain although chilly.

1st-5th November ~ Kings Bromley Marina

Overnight rain brought in the new month, although a bit warmer with temperatures staying in double figures overnight Friday. In between routine chores and shopping, work continued on the music over the weekend and into the new week. Sunday service at Alrewas again. Fhi started a training course in Bromford on Wednesday so stopped off as she passed in the car on Tuesday afternoon. Got colder after the weekend so had to get in extra stores of coal and kindling. Starting to think about heading north, probably after the coming weekend.
