Tuesday 30th September ~ At the house

Quiet morning. Funeral in the afternoon of our principle music teacher from school, Abigail, (and family friend ever since).

Monday 29th September ~ At the house

General jobs around the house, clearing essential paperwork, getting files to help rehearsals.

Sunday 28th September ~ Drive North

The overnight rain cleared to drizzle by breakfast (06:00) and that fizzled out by departure time (07:15). A very good run north, with no accidents or major roadworks. It got busier around the junctions near Liverpool (but that's normal), and again as I was leaving Edinburgh. The sun was out from just after 08:00 making very pleasant driving, although threre were a few patches of thin fog around the Shap area. Got to the house around 15:15 and got settles in for the short period.

Saturday 27th September ~ Bosworth Marina

Fairly quiet morning getting dorted for going north tomorrow. Early lunch then drove down to Coventry (Holyhead Road URC) for an official rehearsal for the service/concert next month. Back to "Paws" in time for dinner and an evening with Strictly.

Friday 26th September ~ Bosworth Marina

Fhi rang mid-morning to ask for help sorting our e-book library, checking she had everything she wanted and getting series numbers checked. Took the rest of the morning and into the afternoon. After a late lunch, drove up to the pharmacy who said the drug was out of stock at their warehouse (and they aren't allowed to give a credit note for the deficit!) - have given up for 12 tabs over 2 months (I'll just miss one every week). Continued out for necessary items to cover till I go north, and ready for when I get back. Quiet evening.

21st-25th September ~ Bosworth Marina

Up and out promptly to join Hinckley URC for their service this morning. Arrived in Hinckley to find road closures - unbeknown to me, it was their motor show today. Eventually found parking and got to the church. Sat listening after the service to the organist who was doing an imprompu recital, then got collared outside by an evangelical group working with the church, before getting a burger lunch and walking round the motor show. Found out St Mary's church (CoE) was staging a scratch Fauré Requiem on 4th Oct so got signed up for that. Finally back at "Paws" by 15:30.

A beautiful sunny day on Monday although cool, with a breeze picking up after lunch. Still waiting for notice that my meds are in - getting unacceptable since that is now a full week since the script was handed in. A rehearsal day, both for the Coventry Cathedral special, and the scratch Fauré.

Another sunny day on Tuesday - getting annoying that I'm still hanging about waiting for my meds. A quiet day on rehearsal material.

Yet another wasted day on Wednesday. Would have been fantastic out cruising but still waiting for the pharmacy, and also now for a delayed Amazon parcel.

Friday was another great cruising day lost, although I would have had to be back in for dinnertime. Routine chores (including topping up water, clearing loo and rubbish, vacuuming the whole boat). Great evening rehearsal with the Hinckley URC choir, working on pieces for their services this (and next) week (including a piece of Rutter I've not heard before "Look at the World"), along with the stuff for Coventry. Back at "Paws" just before 22:00.

16th-20th September ~ Bosworth Marina

Tuesday was a nice day, with sun most of the time. In advance of the forecast heavy rain tomorrow and a busy end to the week, I went out for stores, topped up until well into the weekend.

The forecast rain came overnight into Wednesday but, rather than lasting all day, cleared shortly after breakfast. Generally pottered for the day, doing little things I'd planned to do "at some point".

A dull Thursday morning slowly cleared to a sunny afternoon. After a slow start, walked up to the village to collect my meds. Returning, I found thatpart was incorrect so took the car back up. After much contemplation, they gave me a partial replacement with the rest to come tomorrow. A quiet afternoon and an early dinner before driving to Milton Keynes for an official rehearsal in the evening for the Coventry Cathedral "do". Arrived back just before 23:00.

Up promptly as I had volunteered to assist at Trinity church's pop-up coffee morning on Friday. Headed down to the chapel for 09:30. When it was over, walked round to "Crafty Corner" for wool for Pat, then headed back to "Paws" for lunch. Drove up to the pharmacy in the afternoon to collect the corrected meds from yesterday to find their supplier had sent the wrong stuff! They are re-ordering, and I'll get at some point (got enough to be going on with). Quiet remainder to the afternoon.

A warm but wet day (as per forecast). Heard from Kennie that Aria was out at her first 2-day gymnastic training weekend (with overnight stay). Had a long phone catch-up with Fhi in Italy. A generally quiet day for me. This year's Strictly launch show on in evening. Quick catch-up with Pat afterwards.

11th-15th September ~ Bosworth Marina

Thursday morning, had to drive to Tamworth to get a problem sorted on Pat's phone. In the afternoon, managed to dodge the heavy showers to do the final set up of security cameras for the boat. Showers throughout the day and into evening, very heavy, with some thunder, and with icy lumps in.

Another sunny morning on Friday, but the weather deteriorated again in the afternoon to yet more heavy showers with thunder. Quiet morning on rehearsal material and book. Went out in the early afternoon (before the rain set in) to collect a parcel and get a couple of items from the supermarket. Back to "Paws" for a quiet end to the day.

The rain continued overnight, but had died out by Saturday breakfast - a lovely sunny, but chilly, morning. Spent the morning pottering on routine chores - a dose of washing, cleared the loo, topped up water etc. Took a call from Helen (organist at Trinity) to say she was not happy with her prep for a 'special' on Sunday morning and we should postpone. More rehearsal work for the Coventry Cathedral event, but otherwise a quiet day. The showers were back again by late afternoon.

Went down to Atherstone again for the Sunday service, communion with Pam, probably the last Sunday there this year. The bright morning deteriorated into a dull lunchtime, and showers again by mid-afternoon. After returning to "Paws" for lunch, I had a quiet remainder to the day.

More of the same, weatherwise, on Monday, but with a strong wind as well. Drove to Barwell to collect mail, then stopped off at the pharmacist in Bosworth to lodge my meds script (collection Thursday). Quiet remainder to day.

6th-10th September ~ Bosworth Marina

Drove up to Doncaster on Saturday for the All Saints party, celebrating Stephen & Jacqui's 30th wedding anniversary and 20 years service at All Saints. They had several quizzes, with subject matter concerning famous people their names, costs of daily items in 1995 and now, etc. Unknown to Jacqui, Stephen had arranged for a presentation of her University Degree (missed at the time due several circumstances). After a buffet dinner, they reaffirmed their wedding vows and were giving a blessing by Emily (a student when we first joined All Saints, now fully 'qualified'). A great day of celebration.

At Atherstone for the Sunday service, then back to "Paws" for lunch. Drove down to Bedworth late afternoon for a "Songs of Praise" at the Old Meeting House - a great afternoon singing well-loved hymns. Tea & cakes to follow.

A beautiful sunny Monday. Last week's forecast suggested a good week to go out, but today's offering now suggests showers for at least half the week. Remembered a couple of things I would need before the weekend so went for them, then ended up clearing a number of small jobs I've been meaning to do for some time. The day just sort of slipped away.

Another lovely day on Tuesday. Morning spent on necessary e-paperwork. In the afternoon, I took some exercise walking up into the village for the TV paper. On the way back I got waylaid by a lady taking a breather while walking her dog - she wanted to know about life as a boater. After over an hour sat on the bench at the waterpoint, we went our ways, with me returning to "Paws". Quiet evening and an early night.

The forecast proved right! Didn't get past the door Wednesday due to the weather. Heavy showers throughout with occasional sunny spells. A quiet day with books and puzzles, and rehearsal work.

1st-5th September ~ Bosworth Marina

Sunny start to the month, but with a forecast of rain during the remainder of the week. With another busy weekend next weekend, I elected not to go out for the one or two days when there might be no rain. This morning, had a long lie after the past weekend's gallivanting, then did a bit of routine cleaning. In the afternoon, I worked on rehearsal material for the 'concert' at Coventry Cathedral on 11th October.

Another sunny start on Tuesday, but it didn't last all day. Went out food shopping first thing, then back for lunch. The rain came on early afternoon, just scattered showers, but getting heavier. Spent time working on the concert material, then reading.

Overnight heavy rain continued as frequent heavy showers through Wednesday, although the forecast accompanying thunder never materialised. Never went across the doorstep! Quiet day.

Rain showers continued into Thursday. Another quiet day, justifying not going out.

Rain had cleared away Friday and we had a lovely sunny day. Drove to Seckington for the farm shop, then into Hinckley for stores to last hopefully until next weekend (forecast so far suggests a week of sunshine so hope to get out). After a load of washing in the morning, topped up the water, cleared the loo and did the rubbish in the afternoon. Busy weekend ahead.
