Bradley Locks Branch

The Bradley Locks Branch connected the Wednesbury Oak Loop (original main line) at Weddell Wynd to the Walsall Canal at Moorcroft Junction via a flight of 9 locks. Our walk took us from the workshops along the, now derelict, continuing course of the Wednesbury Oak Loop to the junction with the Branch and down the course of the flight. The locations of most of the locks can still be seen in the contours of the ground, and the bottom three were actually dug out and only requiring gates to go back into service. Health & Safety insisted they were dangerous, with the deep drops, and required them re-filled. There is a plan in the making to restore the line of our walk, and with it the locks. They will only need to be redug and gates fitted when the time comes.
