Damage at Dashwood Lock (June 2021)

The two pictures show the damage to the balance beam at Dashwood Lock (June 2021).

Initially (at the beginning of the month) there had been a stoppage due to damage to the cill. A temporary repair had been effected to tide-over until a winter stoppage. Unfortunately, there was still leakage, making the lock difficult to operate. On 27th, another stoppage was put in place due to the balance beam on the lower gate having been broken. By 29th, two staff-members were being employed (during restricted working hours) to operate the gate using a rope on the mitre-post. They hope to have a collar and temporary repair by the end of the week, and the gate will be replaced during the winter stoppage program (Bradley Workshop already have it in hand).
