Denver Sluice controls the flow of the River Great Ouse into the tidal section. The Lock provides boat passage round the sluice. It can only be passed when the tide is right and permission must be gained from the lock-keepers in advance. It is about a 10 min passage to Salter's Lode to access the Middle Level Navigations.
