The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust centre at Slimbridge  provides a family experience and chance to view the conservation work of the wetland habitat. Founded by Sir Peter Scott, it is considered to be the start of modern conservation. The centre today also provides a place to see species from round the world, as well as native British species. Two of the more exotic exhibits are shown above, the red-capped crane and greater flamingo.
