Temple Island, Henley

photo of Temple Island
The island in the Thames at Henley is notable for its 'folly', an ornamental temple designed by James Wyatt and built in 1771. It conveniently lies at the start of the Regatta course. When it was sold in 1987, the Stewards of the Regatta were able (with charitable gifts) to buy it, and have since carried out considerable renovation work.
